On June 22, 1994, the National Aeronautic and Space Administration (NASA) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced the selection for the Study of the Brain in Space (Neurolab). Dr Philip Chidi Njemanze MD was selected as a principal-investigator from Nigeria among the eight countries selected NASA/NIH Neurolab programme.

On June 22, 1994, the National Aeronautic and Space Administration (NASA) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced the result of a competition among over 120 leading international neuroscience centers on the Study of the Brain in Space (Neurolab) as part of the Decade of the Brain mandated by an Act of the United States Congress from 1990-2000.
Dr Philip Chidi Njemanze MD was selected as a principal-investigator from Nigeria among the eight countries selected NASA/NIH Neurolab programme.
The original principal investigators were from 1. Nigeria; 2. United States; 3. Canada; 4. France; 5. Germany; 6. Italy; 7. Japan.
